Dinner with the family

A dinner get-together for an ‘early’ birthday celebration for the November birthday boys; dh and Uncle Nick.

Dinner at Aston’s Prime, almost everyone had steak, while I had to settle for a grilled Halibut because of my bad throat; I was stuck with having the soft, greasy fish that was totally not appetising :(

The kid’s meal that K requested for; chicken tenders, was far from being tender. Little effort was made on Aston’s to ensure that the kids meal looked or tasted good. This will most likely be my first and last time at Astons. The saving grace was definitely the company and endless entertainment from dear K.

We proceeded to Orchard Central after dinner in search of dessert and K got a pretty good view of the Christmas lights from the long escalator located on the side facade of the mall.

Great photo opportunities with grand-dad as they did their super-hero poses.

K was thrilled (as always) when he got hold of Yiyi’s iphone, surely he is a technophile in the making.

Photo-ops with Nana, Uncle Nick and Uncle Ed.

We decided to go with Gelera ice cream for dessert, K was thrilled with this choice. When we were selecting the flavours at the ice cream bar, he cast hopeful glances towards me, hoping he could have some of the ice cream. I nodded my head and he flashed me a huge grin.

He sure enjoyed himself while savouring the ice cream and showed off his dramatic displays of appreciation for it.

A Sunday Wedding

“Whose wedding?” K was asking me this question when I reminded him this morning that we had a wedding to attend this afternoon.

“Why get married?” was his next question. After giving him a lengthy explanation why a man and woman marry, he asked me, “Why mommy no wedding?” I told him that mommy and daddy already married, so no need to have a wedding. Thank goodness he did not go on to ask why he did not attend our wedding, why he wasn’t born yet, etc. It will probably be quite a challenge to explain the ‘birds and the bees’ to a 2 year old! I will rather reserve that for when he turns 4 or 5.

He was rather satified with my answers to his question and then went on to fuss for another 20 minutes. He did not want to wear a pink shirt and he was adamant that “Pink for girls only.” After convincing him that boys can wear pink and that he looked very handsome in his shirt, I changed him into his outfit for the afternoon and we scrambled out of the house.

He was thrilled when we met Grand-dad, Nana, Yiyi and Uncle Nick at my cousin’s Melissa’s wedding at Rasa Sentosa hotel. With all the attention he was getting from them, he did not mind the heat as much. He just wasn’t too keen too pose for pictures, as I only got to capture him with his pouty expressions.

Post holiday outcome

Down with fever since from Sunday morning,
Fever went up to 38.8 degrees in the wee hours on Monday morning
Dh panicked and wanted to rush K to emergency

Told dh, we should try first with the paracetamol and a gel pack
Got him back to sleep
Fever went down after 1 hour
Sometimes all it takes the other half of an occasional calmer parent

Got K to see the pd this evening
Found that he put on 1kg from the holiday
From a 14.6kg to a robust 15.6 kg

Been confined at home for a week
Told to monitor to his temperature till friday
And that there is little to worry since he is so active and alert

Back comfortably in his bed
Sleeping soundly
Temperature is back to normal
My lil’ boy is a strong viral warrior
