A little reminder

After months of ‘over-browsing and reading’, K’s favorite ‘nice book’ (Richard Scarry’s Best Storybook Ever) pages started falling off from its spine.

I glued the pages of his book back and when I told him that his nice book has been fixed, he turned to me, gave me a hug and said, “Thank you, mummy.”

All that frustrations and impatience that I have experiencing the past couple of days with my strong-willed and stubborn toddler, dissolved into thin air with that hug.

This is just a little nudge to remind me, that the challenges that I have been encountering in my parenting journey thus far is definitely worth it.

Hello 2009!

I will start to have a little childlike attitude to the days that 2009 will bring.

Everyday K wakes up, it’s a new day for him, a whole new world to explore. The curiosity to find out new things, the enthusiasm, the energy with the start of each new day, is something that I can learn from my little one.

Always learn to be jubilant with every little accomplishment. This is seen from K when he loudly exclaims ‘Did it!’ and raises his arms triumphantly in the air, each time he fits a lego block on top of another.

He can most likely vouch that

…in this new year.
Afterall, he has managed to jump a little higher with his two feet off the ground.

I am in the mood for christmas…finally

I discovered on saturday that one of the best way to jumpstart the Christmas mood is to invite good friends over for dinner.

It was a simple pot-luck. As the host, I made beef stew and potato cassarole. Mom chipped in with bee hoon and cheese cake. I put on some Christmas music, tealight candles and christmas lights to set the mood. L made caesar salad, K did her usual; konnyaku jelly (will expect something more advanced from K next year), HL brought fruits.

K was absolutely thrilled to have Alex share his cardboard playhouse,

ride on his dump truck together,

and entertain the adults by tickling the ivories.

Despite Alex being a little tired after a busy afternoon, K really enjoyed her company. We will definitely need to arrange for more playdates for the tots.

Before the evening ended, we exchanged christmas presents. We could not wait till boxing day and unwrapped them on the spot. It was truly a lovely evening with great company. Thanks ladies, tots and dads for the pressies and a fabulous evening.

After this dinner, I am actually inspired by my not-so-perfect attempt at potato cassarole to make better food next year. I refuse to believe that with 2 gifted cooks in my family; my Mum and Nick, I do not even have a miniscule of a cooking gene in me.
