Pho in Chinatown?

A week of being stuck at home has left me with plenty of cravings, so I made dh and the little one come along with me in search of Vietnamnese Pho.

K wasn't in his best of moods today so I could hardly get a grin from him for the photos.

Since we rarely spend time around this part of Singapore, I brought my cam along to snap some pictures of Chinatown.

There are so many sights and colours that is hard to capture with a moody little boy and a hungry dh in tow. So my next visit with the cam to Chinatown has to be sans the little boy and the man.

When we finally got our Pho, it turned out to be a great disappointment. So unsatifying until I did not bother to capture any shots of it. So I have learnt that one should never go to Chinatown and try any other cuisine other than Chinese food.

And the boy was in his best, "I don't want to eat anything" mood. I suppose the Pho was really no good according to his gourmet tastebuds.

So my search for good Pho continues…

Nature’s wonders

bbnp2

The balmy breeze of the wind on your face on a hot day, a ray of sunlight peeking through a clearing of a canopy of trees. Flora and fauna with their intricate patterns and glorious bursts of colours. A bird clapping its wings and rising vertically above the trees, circles slowly, gracefully gliding on outstretched wings. The hint of fresh, yet rich earthly scent of the grass, trees and soil. The whisper of the rustle of leaves in the breeze, the harmony of birds twittering, the faint gurgle of water trickling down the stream and the chirping of the crickets breaking into a light lilting air.

Nature opens a feast for our senses and never fail to make me stand in awe of my Creator who made nature so wondrous for our enjoyment and appreciation. He uses the most detailed threads to weave nature's patterns, so that every piece of its fabric reveals the composition of his marvellous tapestry.

Re-acquaint yourself with nature with child-like wonder and you will see that nature will be able to bring delight, enlightening insights and memorable experiences for you and your child. So when was the last time you have spend some time in nature?

The best thing about our holiday?

12 days is just about the maximum number of days we can stay in Sydney (without getting sick of the place or getting broke first after eating out so much).

It’s a wonderful cosmopolitan place, with lots to see and do, even for kids. However, most things are just too expensive. Shopping is about 30-40% more costly than Singapore (unless you limit your shopping from only Target, K-mart or thrift shops) and eating out is pricey. Besides there is hardly any service to talk about. Shopping is only fun when it comes to fresh produce, like meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables, however try not to even consider imported produce. I still find it extremely ridiculous that ginger (obviously not grown in Australia) costs like AUD$50 per kg!

Apart from little peeves like the above, it is still a nice place to go for a family vacation. The region offers a vast variety of nature and wildlife attractions, extremely apt for children who love nature and animals.

For K, there is one memorable thing that he remembers fondly from our trip…
